Bio

This six-time Dutch dj champion and scratching virtuoso is a key figure in the Dutch dj and scratch scene. Known for his drumming, scratching and production work in the band C-Mon & Kypski, he is now releasing music on his own label. He’s released seven C-Mon & Kypski albums, and two scratch-tools. He has made several remixes for artists like Nobody Beats The Drum and Lotus, but perhaps his most well known remix is Deadelus – Touchtone (Kypski Remix), released on Ninja-Tune in 2008.

Kypski collaborates with legendary musicians in almost every thinkable genre, and has played or dj-ed at the biggest venues in Holland and abroad. From the Paradiso, Melkweg, Heineken Music Hall in Amsterdam to the Hammerstein Ballroom and Webster Hall in NYC, to London’s Royal Albert Hall. Kypski had studied dj Ace’s (Gunkhole) scratch techniques closely in 1996. They recorded several practice tapes at the time. When Kypski came back from the States in 1997, he won every dj contest in Holland. Using his scratching skills with genres ranging from Classical to Jazz to Techno, Kypski’s signature can be distinguished in every track. Kypski djs electronica sets in clubs as a solo artist. In the jazz scene Kypski works in the music team for Jazz singer Caro Emerald. Kypski provides Caro with scratching in the studio as well as on stage. On the other end of the musical spectrum with the top – notch Classical Matangi string Quartet, he creates a fusion of electronica, turntablism and Classical music.

Together with dj Sjam he created ‘The Clocktave – Melodic battlebreak for turntable musicians’, a scratch tool based on a single notescale using a clock – orientation system, which can be obtained through Thudrumble.com.
